Support in Bolton

There are a number of charities and organisations that help those in need, including the homeless and asylum seekers. Details can be found below.

The Destitution Project provides a safe environment for asylum seekers and refugees where they can find friendship, food and practical help.

An arts based Christian charity with a mission to see people in ‘creationships’ that make a lasting difference to effect a positive physical, emotional and spiritual transformation. Helping people of all ages, and situations, people of faith and people without.

Meeting at Red Lane United Reformed Church, every Friday from 7pm to 8pm and Sunday from 7:30pm to 9pm this group is to help anyone who is struggling with alcohol.

Speakeasy is for people living with aphasia. Their mission is to make a positive difference in the lives of people who have aphasia and their carers. To achieve this they provide support for people when they need it and for as long as they want it.

Urban Outreach is a Christian charity providing food for households in crisis; and person-centred support for the most disadvantaged and vulnerable adults and young people in Bolton.

Healthwatch Boltons’ purpose is to understand the needs, experiences and concerns of people who use health and social care services and to speak out on their behalf.

Family Action transforms lives by providing practical, emotional and financial support to those who are experiencing poverty, disadvantage and social isolation across the country.

MhiST

The group is aimed at parents with children aged between birth and 2 years, who are struggling with their mental health. This can be due to postnatal depression, isolation, and loneliness or struggling with the pulls of parenthood. 

The group will be held at MhIST, 1st floor of Moorland House, Bark Street, BL1 2AX at 10 am Fridays until 11:30, and the children are more than welcome however there are no creche facilities.

NICE goals are to help and empower the residents of Bolton. By working in partnership with the local authorities, charities and other organisations, we aim to improve and develope life skills and provide training facilities in the interests of social welfare.

 The Simeon Centre offers a confidential counselling service, free at the point of need, for people living in and around Bolton.

Bolton Together is a children and young people’s voluntary and community sector consortium for Bolton.

Backup (Formerly Bolton Young Persons Housing Scheme) was set up in 1992 in partnership with Bolton Council and Irwell Valley Housing with one house in Daubhill. They provide an opportunity for young people who are homeless to be safe, stable and develop skills for independence.

Beacon is a well-established counselling service considered a prestigious organisation within the North West counselling network. Beacon is an organisational member of the British Association for Counsellors and Psychotherapists (BACP).

Home-Start is a local community network of trained volunteers and expert support helping families with young children through their challenging times. They are there for parents when they need them the most because childhood can’t wait.

Emmaus is a homelessness charity with a difference. They don’t just give people a bed for the night; they offer a home, meaningful work and a sense of belonging.

Lucie’s Pantry provides a sustainable and affordable source of food and household essentials to members of the Bolton community struggling to make ends meet.

Breaking Barriers is a charity that aims to support disabled children, young people and their families.

Homeless Aid UK are dedicated to ending homelessness, by delivering life-changing services and campaigning for change.  Additionally, they supply food hampers and clothing to the growing number of people living in poverty. 

Endeavour is a community domestic abuse charity supporting people and their pets to live a life free from domestic abuse.

The Bolton Guild of Help provides help for people in the Bolton area who are often suffering from crises of varying extents and types. They may have only one problem but usually have many, they may be on benefits or working.

Bolton Advice Centre’s door is open to anyone who needs help and advice, no matter what the issue is.
They have a great deal of experience in helping people on many issues such as benefit claims, housing, employment and sensory impairment issues

Bolton Community Furniture Store – BCFS (Formerly Bolton Community Transport and Furniture Services – BCTFS) has been a registered charity since 1989 and sells furniture to support people and to protect the environment.

Fortalice are a Bolton based charity providing frontline services for people who are, or have been, affected by domestic abuse and violence. Their support includes refuge accommodation, local community services, education and accredited training for professionals.
